The Voter
by Peter Volk
Gee it's dark outside
But that lightning's so bright!
I'm real glad you bought me that Disney night-light
Hope there's no bogeyman under the bed
Will you check for me Daddy?
Are you sure that he's dead?
Boy, that storm's getting scary
I'm glad you're here Daddy
Will you tuck me in and tell me a story?
Doesn't have to be true
The Bible will do
But only a verse, 'coz it's getting late
And I'm getting sleepy
I love you Daddy
When you touch me like that I feel so happy
So trusting and safe
So secure and cuddly
I could probably sleep for ever.
