6th Leg: Kitzbuhel - Mattrei
Monday morning
Just a short journey today, riding a bus for an hour and a half to get deeper into the Austrian Alps. The scenery along the way is almost obscenely picturesque - obscenery, we might call it - something lewd about the fresh green meadows, alpine streams and smiling moo-cows seen around every bend in the road. Or maybe that’s just my point of view.
We have arrived now in a smaller town, not so rich and resort-like as Kitzbuhel. It is surrounded by mountains capped by snow, which we plan to walk over in the next couple of days.
