People who are bosses, managers… generally, in positions of power and authority - are nearly always slower to accept original and innovative ideas. When people feel that they are in a good position, they have more to lose than win; in other words, they are happy with things as they are. Why would they want anything to change?
In some cases, they may rationally see that change is positive, if not inevitable, but their emotions and instincts will still prefer the status quo.
More subtly, it is not just those in high positions who resist change, but anybody who is satisfied with their position. In all walks of life, those who are content or simply unambitious will naturally show little interest in new ideas.
The inverse of this is that discontent is the engine of progress.
