Readers All,
Total Cardboard Publishing’s latest release is here: My Reality, a part-memoir, part-philosophical and historical tract, by an unknown Melbourne writer, Fosco Antonio.
Fosco came to Australia from Italy as a child, back in the 1950s. His book reflects on mutations of Australian culture since that time, on the experience of having Catholic roots in a largely secular society, on the search for Meaning without God, and on the transformative power of emotional crisis.
The book is also an affectionate narrative of Melbourne - its geography, its particular cultural topography, and its own proud version of post-war radicalism.
Please take a moment to find out more about this remarkable book, and perhaps even read an extract, at the Total Cardboard website.
. . .
Demented, abject and suicidal… My Reality is both a cry for help, and a lamentation for a nation that is languishing in the bowels of history.
