Chinese businessman Wang Zhendong, also known as “The Ant Swindler”, has been sentenced to death for his long-running and hugely profitable schemes based on making wine and tea from black ants. Wang convinced unwary “associates” that the packages of ants he sold them could be used to breed millions of the little buggers, which could then be sold in China at a significant price, as drinks brewed from their carcasses are thought to hold outstanding medical properties.

Apparently, Wang’s bargain “ant-packs” were not actually such a good deal.
